CENTRAL CALIFORNIA SOCCER REFEREE ASSOCIATION

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES

December 5, 2009

 

Call to Order:  Meeting was called to order by President Mike Kampmeinert at 7:35 pm.

 

Roll Call:  President – Mike Kampmeinert; Second Vice-President – Jim Sandison; Treasurer – Ed Miles; Member at Large:  Jim Sutton, Kurt Olson

 

Attendance:  Approximately 75 members in attendance.

 

Instructional Period:

 

                            Ed Foster (District VI Cup):

 

1.     Six team referee walk-on anticipated on Wednesday, December 10.

2.     Mike Kampmeinert will be conducting a one-hour class at the December 10 matches in Folsom.

3.     CYSA tournament with District Cup rules.

4.     No guest players.

5.     Every player must play a minimum of half the match.

6.     No casts.

7.     Referees must collect money before game.

8.     ARs are provided by teams.

9.     Referees are responsible for player check-in.

10.  Referees are responsible for completing game card.

11.  Start game on time.

12.  Return player passes to convenor at conclusion of match.

13.  Red cards go to convenor.

14.  Potential assault should be reported to Mark Bailey (916) 837-5983.

15.  Bill Norris:  (916) 381-4166.

 

                            David Bragg (MLS Assistant Referee):

 

1.     Need to come up as assistant referee to become referee –

2.     Three critical items:  position, patience, preparation

3.     Will be mentally exhausted if you do the job correctly

4.     Need to focus throughout match.

5.     Need to have mental toughness to deal with comments from sideline.

6.     Responsible for three offs:  offside, off the ball, and off the cross bar.

7.     Try to see how the referee is calling game – be consistent.

8.     Stay with second to last defender.  Square up to the field.

9.     Make the call and then get ready for the next phase of play.

10.  Support the referee’s whistle.

11.  Youth ARs should not engage parents.

12.  Work on mechanics.

 

                            Mike Kampmeinert (National Referee):

 

1.     Need to be able to see from goal line to goal line.

2.     Need to train to referee.

3.     Keep the tournament rules in your bag.

4.     Be at the fields on time.

5.     Check in with convenor 45 minutes prior to match.

6.     Try to make connection with referee team.

7.     Everyone is ready from start to finish.
