CENTRAL CALIFORNIA
SOCCER REFEREE ASSOCIATION
SUMMARY OF EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER REPORTS October 2009 President’s Report October is starting to be a busy month. With the youth and college season in full swing and the amateur league starting our talents are in high demand. Despite the wide number of games we must be aware that the calendar year is quickly coming to a close and now is the time to start think about meeting the recertification or upgrade requirements. Please see US Soccer or CCSRA webpage for details on the requirements for each grade. The written test will be offered before the October and November meeting at 6pm in the SMUD building. In addition, the fitness test will be conducted October 10th and November 15th. Please RSVP with Tom Starr for both the written and fitness test. Assessments can be scheduled though Lynn Williams. Our Association looks forward to supporting you in your future referee endeavors. Please submit comments, suggestions or pictures to president@ccsra.net Respectfully submitted, Mike Kampmeinert First Vice-President’s Report I recommend the Board meet in person at very near future date. Several of the items below are repetitive from last month as they have not yet been addressed or are updates. 1) “Fitness Club”: Still postponed until further notice. (VP not available. CA in Sunnyvale during the work-week.) 2) “Pass Back”: Is anyone else on the Board willing to store and distribute items when they are requested? I am currently living in Sunnyvale during the workweek and only, on occasion, in Sacramento on the weekends. 3) Website: Attempting to keep items/events up to date. Arbiter not currently active. Can no longer send out mass emails from Arbiter as our contract has expired. All CCSRA and NCSOA members emails are in CCSRA web mail, however it is limited for mass emails needs. 4) Everyone be sure to notice and recognize non-member attendance and make them welcome. 5) I support that CCSRA attempts to become the avenue to CCSL Assignments. The Association can post Assignments, Forms, Information on a direct CCSL/Referee Page. 6) We need to discuss as a Board and as an Association: a) preparation for Annual Awards b) Preparation/announcements for Board Elections c) need to renew Network Solutions d) Sign up with either Arbiter or other product -Submitted by Colin Arblaster Report Respectfully submitted, Steven Culberson, Secretary SEPTEMBER 2009 First Vice President Report 1) “Fitness Club”: Postponed until further notice. 2) “Pass Back”: Is anyone else on the Board willing to store and distribute items when they are requested? I am currently living in Sunnyvale during the workweek and only, on occasion, in Sacramento on the weekends. 3) Website: Arbiter not currently active. Currently working on entering all members’ emails into CCSRA web mail so that we may distribute email blast from own email source. 4) Posted the 9/11/09 Meeting Agenda Flyer on the NCSOA website to invite more non-members to this event. Everyone be sure to notice and recognize non-member attendance and make them welcome. (NCSOA has significantly reduced their number of meetings so an overload of attending meetings at this time of the year should not be a major burden upon all local referees during both NFHS and USSF matches.) Submitted by Colin Arblaster First Vice-President
5) I have still not heard anything about Arbiter or Ref Scheduler(?). A decision should be made soon since the membership will be unable to access Arbiter and something needs to be put in place.
6) I still have the two new members from last meeting that I have not been able to add to a database since we are without one at the current time.
7) The current checkbook balance is $1,425.77

August 2009 First Vice-President’s Report 1) “Fitness Club”: Veronica Perez has been orchestrating both Tues and Thurs evening sessions. (This has been noted on website.) 2) “Pass Back”: nothing to note. 3) Website: “web hosting” needs to be renewed by: January 09, 2010 Renewal Options are:
We originally elected a one-year renewal this past year to familiarize ourselves with the existing services, as the price break is not real significant from 1 to 3 year plans. (I can set this up to be automatically renewed with Ed Miles help -bank stuff. with what ever plan is chosen. 4) Arbiter: Arbiter is in the process of updating its format and features. Now has a new domain name of www.arbitersports.com New features have not been completely revealed at this time so it is not yet possible to compare it with the other product of potential choice at www.gameofficials.net Price breaks for gameofficials.net still seems to be the main difference. 5) New Website additions: created a background image of Blue jersey to add color and site uniqueness. Several local tournaments posted. California Cup Photo shoot. Basic maintenance and updates 6) Online Referee Availability Form for Cal Cup received over 70 entries. Was of good use to the Cal Cup Assigners and provided greater exposure to high level referees outside of the area. Placer United tournament requested the same format for their tournament. 7) Colin is now also managing the NCSOA website. This should be up shortly. One will notice a similar style and navigation process making it easier for one serving both associations. Having the ability to marry information from both sites may hopefully assist both associations in regard to shared information, expanded information, browser traffic, increased membership. Treasurer’s Report 1.) Current checkbook balance is positive 2.) Membership is now at 82. 4.) A consensus at the last meeting was that the polo shirts will continue to be embroidered and will not involve a sewn-on patch not a black background stitched around the net portion of the logo. Our logo will be standardized when stitched onto clothing or other items. 5.) Previously I asked for the Board members to send me their polo shirt sizes. I have not heard from many of you. Please send me an e-mail confirming what size polo shirt you wear. Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. JUNE 2009 President’s Report April was the election for the CCSRA Executive Board. The membership approved the bylaws and the new direction the Referee Association is going by trying to become the premier referee development group for Northern California. With the election we also had three members not return to the Executive Board. I would like to thank Jim Sandison, Dave Richard and Kurt Olson for their service to the CCSRA. They are very committed individuals who dedicated much time and energy to Referee Development and to the CCSRA. The election also brought three new members to the Executive Board: Nathan Lacy, Steven Culberson and Ed Foster. Their experience and knowledge is a great addition to the CCSRA and I look forward to working with all of them. We have several exciting events scheduled for June around the California Cup. On June 19th we have US Soccer Referee Inspector, Local Area Coordinator for Professional Assignments and former National Referee Farhad Mansourian and the guest speaker at our Membership Meeting. Please see the website www.ccsra.net for details about the meeting and the California Cup. -Submitted by Mike Kampmeinert

We should also award a Youth and Adult Assistant Referee of the Year Award. 3. We also might consider a Fourth Official of the Year Award. 4. We need to develop a list of past award winners for reference and historical purposes. 5. The Chuck Fleischer Award will be awarded on an “as-appropriate” basis to recognize assessors or other persons in the soccer community who have made outstanding contributions “for the good of the game.” -Submitted by Jim Sutton

February 2009 Reports Never filed... January 2009 Reports Never filed... President’s Report: The executive board is finalizing plans for the CCSRA participation in the 2008 District VI Cup. David Bragg is the confirmed presenter for the December 5 meeting along with Ed Foster and Mike Kampmeinert. Thank you to Ed Foster for the numerous email blasts letting people know about our organization and our upcoming events. Ed Foster has finalized the assignment for the District VI game on December 10: Referee – Colin Arblaster, AR1 – Travis Aires; AR2 – Dave Richard, and 4th Official – Richard Prusia. The kickoff time for this match is 6 pm and the CCSRA will be hosting a game narration or walk-through on the touchline during this match explaining the various calls, mechanics, positioning, and teamwork used during the match. On December 12ththe CCSRA will be hosting a coach/mentor clinic at the Woodland Community Center. Duncan Way will be the lead for the meeting and the field session on December 13th. Please bring your camera to the various events you are refereeing at such as league play or tournaments and submit pictures so we can post them on www.ccsra.net. -Submitted by Mike Kampmeinert First Vice-President’s Report: Colin Arblaster sends regrets for not being present for the December 5th meeting as he will be refereeing at the NCAA Women’s Division 1 College Cup. The CCSRA website is now accurately linked with the CSAN website. District 6 website and CCSL 360 Soccer website have been contacted to include the CCSRA web site in their links. Further requests are being made with local clubs/associations to add a link from their respective websites if they desire to do so. Within the first month of launching, we have received compliments from web surfers from out of state reporting that we have a sharp and informative site. Some have also requested permission to use our presentations for their association and development groups. The site currently features tournament pages, assignments for District Cup, and other League assignments. At the suggestion of Ed Foster, we have created a page for “Outstanding Referee Recognition”. This will highlight individual accomplishments of District VI referees. Keep a look out for any referees we may be able to feature. The Pass Back warehouse is slowing increasing. Please consider cleaning out your drawers and closets of items you may no longer use. CCSRA PO Box is now established. The address is: CCSRA, PO Box 162735, Sacramento, CA 95816-2735. For the District 6 Cup finals, I plan on creating a “Tournament Match Narrative Slide Show” and posting it on the website. It will then replace the Association Cup Finals Slide Show that is there now. -Submitted by Colin Arblaster Treasurer’s Report: Current checking balance is $890.21. Eight new paid members dues were deposited. Paid membership for 2009 is now eleven. I have started the logo change that was discussed at our last meeting. More info to follow as I get more info from the vendor. -Submitted by Ed Miles Member at Large Report: As requested by Mike Kampmeinert, Jim has begun a review and re-write of the CCSRA Constitution, By-Laws, and Related Items. His objective is to thoroughly edit and streamline the document while logically combining related elements. His timeline is to have a draft document available for comment in February 2009 with the goal of approving the revised constitution and by-laws at the April 2009 AGM. Anyone interested in providing comments are encouraged to contact Jim. -Submitted by James Sutton
